I scan http://search.twitter.com/ for relevant keywords and hashtags from time to time to find potential follows. Twitter's user base is growing quickly so it's always easy to find interesting conversations and new people.

You can also scan the contact lists of high-profile Twitter accounts to find interesting new follows.

Groups can be a fantastic resource. I've also created an EMR group at http://twittgroups.com/group/emr and I suspect countless new healthcare sub-groups will be created soon. If you don't see one for your area of interest create it and build your own community!

I really enjoy posting and receiving twitter content.

I am especially interested in following others interested in emergency responder online education who are also EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, RNs, or MDs.

I have a search for diabetes, health2.0 and other important keywords as its own column in TweetDeck. I found a lot of great people (including @medxcentral) that way.
